Company Section - February 2020
The New Year has got off to a busy start with the Company hosting its annual Burns Supper on January 24th.
With plenty of food and drink on hand, this is an evening in which boys take the lead through a mixture of music, poetry and song, with participation counting towards the Company's awards programme as we learn about our national bard.
January also sees boys taking part in the District Go-Karting Competition at Scotkart in Clydebank, competing against other boys from across the area to record the fastest lap times.
This is one of the most popular events on the District calendar with upwards of 50 boys participating, and as our Company is responsible for organising the event, it’s a busy time for staff as well as boys.
That event is quickly followed by the District Drill Competition, which this year will see the whole of Company Section heading to Kelvinbridge Parish Church having spent weeks practising manoeuvres,
Future events on the horizon include the District Badminton Competition and one or two new events which companies are currently in the process of planning.
Finally, congratulations goes to two of our staff members, John Law and David Molloy, who completed their Youth Leader Training with Glasgow Battalion shortly before Christmas, and have now been appointed to the rank of Lieutenant by the Kirk Session.
Both young men have made a valued contribution to the Company, firstly as boys and most recently as staff sergeants, and their appointment reflects both their commitment and the positive example they set to the boys around them.
