Junior Section - April 2019
Junior Section has enjoyed a busy period over the last month, especially in terms of competitions and other events.
In late February, our team of Donald Mathison, Ethan Walker-Reid and Matthew Gillespie participated in the District General & Bible Knowledge Quiz and performed excellently to lead from start to finish and win the competition against five other teams.
There was further success at the District Ten-Pin Bowling in early March as Ruairidh Smith won the junior age group in that competition with Daniel Gillatt winning the senior age category.
Our most recent event was the District Figure Marching, which we hosted in mid-March. Our two squads performed well, finishing in second and fourth places. Whilst there was slight disappointment amongst the boys at not being able to retain the trophy for what would have been the fifth year in a row, the boys did well and can now work towards winning it back next year.
We now have one last competition left this session, the District Sports at Scotstoun, and we hope to report on some successes in that event next month.
Finally, we saw a good turnout for the uniformed organisations' service in mid-March and the boys all thoroughly enjoyed morning worship as well as the march past in slightly breezy conditions after the service. Thanks to many members of the congregation for their positive comments that day.
Due to the way dates fall, Junior Section will have three Fridays off around the Easter break but when we return we will be busy with preparations focused on our Annual Inspection & Display on Friday 17th May.
On behalf of all the boys and leaders, I wish everyone a peaceful and enjoyable Easter break.
