Junior Section Summer 2018
Another session came to a close when the boys joined with the Company Section for a very successful Inspection and Display on May 18. Junior Section participated in a number of items during the evening, including a display of the figure marching routine mastered by the boys set to the track, There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back. There was also a chance to some off some gymnastic abilities as well as an opportunity to find ‘volunteers’ from the audience to take part in some energetic games based around plastic cones!
The night concluded with the prizegiving ceremony where a number of boys picked up awards. Congratulations go to all the boys who went home with awards with special mentions for Gabriel Colquhoun and Logan MacLeod who achieved perfect attendance, Robert Buchan and Daniel Gillatt who shared the PE award and Calum Brown who won the Drill award.
Donald Mathison collected the Best Junior Boy award whilst Logan MacLeod won the overall Best Boy award for the second year in a row. The best group award for the session went to Group Three led by Logan MacLeod alongside John Luca Mackay, Ethan Walker-Reid and Donald Mathison.
Gabriel Colquhoun and Logan MacLeod were also promoted to Company Section and we wish them well as they begin the next stage of their time within The Boys' Brigade.
The day after our Inspection was our annual trip with Anchor Boys, this year to Blair Drummond Safari Park. We enjoyed glorious sunshine throughout and the boys and leaders enjoyed a great day touring the various enclosures and play areas as well as fitting in a boat ride around Chimpanzee Island and a visit to the sealion show.
We will now be enjoying a relaxing summer break before enrolling for Session 2018-2019 on Friday 31st August from 6.30pm in the large hall. Any boy in P4, P5 and P6 is welcome to come along for more details on joining the section or alternatively, visit www.130thglasgow.co.uk f
