Company Section - May 2019
With the Easter holidays having now passed, we are into the final few weeks of the Boys' Brigade Session, with preparations for our 114th Annual Inspection and Display now well underway.
The Display takes place in the large hall of the Church on Friday, May 17th beginning at 7:00pm, and everyone will be made most welcome.
The evening will feature a number of items that reflect our programme of activities such as drill, bugle band, games and fellowship, with boys currently working on all of these along with the opening and closing ceremonies.
The weeks prior to Easter saw a number of District competitions against other local companies. This included the District Sports Competition, held at Scotstoun Stadium, which saw boys competing in a range of track and field events.
Congratulations go to Dakota Sattar, who was the overall winner of the intermediate age group, and Cameron McArdle, who finished in the third place overall in the senior age group.
There was further success in the Seniors’ Challenge, which sees boys working in teams of three to complete a series of physical and mental tasks within their companies, with their scores then compared to others across the District.
One of our teams, comprising Tom Hamilton, Nathan Alexander and Tyler Swan, were the overall winners.
As attention focuses on our Annual Inspection and Display, we are especially looking forward to a number of our senior boys receiving their President’s Badges during the evening.
We will be welcoming John Sharp, Boys’ Brigade Scotland Director, as our Inspecting Officer, and the evening will also feature our prizegiving ceremony, with boys competing for a number of individual and squad prizes reflecting the work of the Company over the course of the year.
