Company Section - March 2019
Recent weeks have seen Company Section boys taking part in a number of District competitions, with more to follow in the weeks ahead.
The District Go-Karting Competition saw more than 50 boys racing against each other at Scotkart in Clydebank to see who could record the fastest lap time.
Congratulations go to Tyler Swan and Jonathan McArdle who finished in third place in the Intermediate and Senior age groups respectively.
The last Friday in February saw boys competing in the District Drill Competition at Kelvingrove Parish Church, the headquarters of the 1st Glasgow.
Practising for this event has been a focus of our recent Friday nights, but other competitions also lie ahead including the District Badminton Competition at Scotstoun and the District Tenpin Bowling Competition at Springfield Quay.
During February, a further two members of the Company also completed the Building Your Skills Course run by Glasgow Battalion. Jonathan and Cameron McArdle took part in the course, which is one of the final requirements for boys wishing to earn their President’s Badge.
Meanwhile, the Bugle Band is turning its attention towards rehearsing for the second Service for Uniformed Organisations of the session, which will take place at the church on Sunday, March 17th, and we’re also now thinking about rounding the session off with our 114th Annual Inspection and Display, which will take place in the large hall on Friday, 17th May, beginning at 7:00pm.
