Company Section November 2018
The weather has resulted in changes to some of the usual events which Company Section take part in at this time of year, with the District Five-a-side Football Competition eventually taking place in early-October having been postponed from a couple of weeks earlier.
Congratulations go to Angus Happell, Ruairidh MacDonald and Logan MacLeod, who led the 130th to third place in the competition with the help of a couple of stand-ins from other companies.
We weren’t so lucky with the annual District Sports which was due to take place at Scotstoun Stadium in early October. Heavy rain meant that event was also postponed and we’ll have to wait until later in the session before it can rescheduled.
There should be fewer problems with upcoming events as they take place indoors, starting with the District Lazer Planet Competition to be held at Scotkart at Clydebank in November.
Away from District events, we’re looking forward to joining with some Junior Section boys to visit the Etihad Stadium to see Manchester City take on Bournemouth on 1st December, and we’re looking at other options for outings, bearing in mind that not all the boys in the Company are football fans.
The Bugle Band is also practising for the first Service for Uniformed Organisations of the session which will take place on Remembrance Sunday, 11th November. This is always an important date in our calendar, particularly with this date marking the centenary of the end of the First World War.
Finally, we recently announced plans for Summer Camp 2019: We will be visiting the Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre at Lochgoilhead in Argyll between 29th July and 2nd August.
During our time there we will take part in a range of outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking and gorge walking, and we expect it will be another busy and enjoyable week.
