Company Section April 2017
Thanks go to everyone who attended the Service for Uniformed Organisations held at the Church.
This is always an important event for the Company and it was encouraging to see so many people in attendance.
The service was one of a number of events which have taken place as we approach the Easter Holidays.
We have continued to enjoy success in competitions against other local companies, with Tyler Swan winning the junior age group in the District Tenpin Bowling Competition, while Fergus Watson finished runner-up in the seniors.
And a special congratulations goes to one of our senior boys, John Law. On 18 March, John Law finished third in the BB Scottish Cross Country Championships at Bellahouston Park, having triumphed in the Glasgow Battalion race two weeks earlier.
It’s the first time in many years the Company has had success in a national event, with the quality of the competition underlining the scale of John’s achievement.
John is also one of five boys who will be attending their Queen’s Badge Completion Course at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre in the last weekend in March, the others being Lachlan Callen, Keshav Mahendra, Ruaraidh Meldrum and David Molloy.
The boys will be taking part in a series of indoor and outdoor activities aimed at building various skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication as they look to earn their Queen’s Badges at the end of this session.
They hope to be awarded their badges at our 112th Annual Inspection and Display, which will take place in the large hall on Friday, 12th May, beginning at 7pm. Everyone who attends will be made most welcome.
