About Us

The 130th Glasgow Company, The Boys' Brigade is a youth organisation based in Broomhill in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland. Our three age sections all meet on Friday nights during school term time and membership is open to boys between the ages of 5 and 18. Each section runs a packed but varied programme of activities and events that is not only energetic but challenging and enjoyable.

The new session is underway and we have 20 boys enrolled which will make for another busy session ahead.

The first competition of the year, the District Sports is to be held at Scotstoun Stadium and boys will compete in a series of track and field events. It will be followed by the District Five-a-Side football competition, also taking place at Scotstoun, in early October.

We also have a large number of boys working towards their Queen’s Badges or fulfilling the final requirements to earn their President’s Badges, whilst we have one eye on the first Church Parade of the session, which will take place on Remembrance Sunday, 10th November.

Another session came to a close when the boys joined with the Company Section for a very successful Inspection and Display on May 17. Junior Section participated in a number of items during the evening, including a display of the figure marching routine mastered by the boys set to the track, Alcatraz. There was also a chance to take part in a new item, Hoop Hop Showdown - a hopping race involving games of Rock, Paper, Scissors – as well as some audience involvement in our ‘classic’ Fetch game.

The night concluded with the prizegiving ceremony where a number of boys picked up awards. Congratulations go to all the boys who went home with awards with special mentions for Matthew Gillespie who achieved perfect attendance, Kyle Thomson and Daniel Gillatt who shared the PE award and Calum Brown who won the Drill award.

Donald Mathison collected the Best Boy runner up award whilst Matthew Gillespie won the overall Best Boy award. The best group award for the session went to Group Two led by Kyle Thomson alongside Ethan Walker-Reid, Donald Mathison, William Greenhill and Jacob Reynolds.

Calum Brown, Robert Buchan, Daniel Gillatt, John Luca Mackay, Kyle Thomson and Ethan Walker-Reid were also promoted to Company Section and we wish them well as they begin the next stage of their time within The Boys' Brigade.

We also thank members of the congregation who came along to support the boys on the evening.

The day after our Inspection was our annual trip with Anchor Boys, this year to Heads of Ayr Farm Park. Despite some rainy weather in the morning, we had a great day visiting various enclosures and play areas and all 22 boys in attendance went home suitably tired!

We will now be enjoying a relaxing summer break before enrolling for Session 2019-2020 on Friday 30th August from 6.30pm in the large hall. Any boy in P4, P5 and P6 is welcome to come along for more details on joining the section or alternatively, visit for further information.
