Anchor Section - December 2019 / 2020
We are now very much into our Autumn programme. The start of the month was heralded by many local firework displays and we have developed this into the theme of light. There is so much to share on this topic, how light at night guides us on our way, how lighthouses help ships at sea but most of all how Jesus said that he is the “light of the world” and what that truly means.
Just before Remembrance Day we had an evening thinking about why we wear poppies and how God wants us to be at peace with one another. The boys made a craft with a poppy and the text “Blessed are the Peacemakers” on it.
Just two days later nine out of the ten boys attended Remembrance Day Services and were reminded again about the importance of maintaining peace in our troubled world.
At present we are looking forward to our annual sledging trip at Braehead. This is always lots of fun and the boys will be warmed up with a hot chocolate drink before heading home.
Next month is a special one for children everywhere and we look forward to sharing the Christmas story with them, making Christmas crafts and having our party with a visit from Santa.
