About Us

The 130th Glasgow Company, The Boys' Brigade is a youth organisation based in Broomhill in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland. Our three age sections all meet on Friday nights during school term time and membership is open to boys between the ages of 5 and 18. Each section runs a packed but varied programme of activities and events that is not only energetic but challenging and enjoyable.

Anchor Section December 2018 / January 2019

Since last writing we have continued to have an exciting time together. All the boys attended the fancy dress party. We had great fun trying to work out who was who behind all the imaginative and varied costumes. This task was compounded by having two sets of identical twins!

The Friday before Remembrance Sunday we focused our thoughts on peace. We started the evening by making pictures of fireworks against a dark background. We then talked about how the gunpowder needed for fireworks is also used in the gunfire of warfare leading on to how God desires his people to strive for peace and blesses the peacemakers. Our minister, George, joined us for the second half of the evening. He spent time with the boys explaining the different parts of the church before taking us into his vestry and the church itself.

Several boys attended the Remembrance Day service and, despite being very young, understood the significance of the two minutes silence and coped well during this time of reflection.

We recently continued with our topic of space and exploration and we are looking forward to going sledging at Braehead.
