Anchor Boys May 2018
In late March we finished the regular part of our session with our Parents' Evening and Prizegiving. Our theme this year was treasure and this was reflected in our choice of opening praise and games.
We were delighted to have Michael Kerins with us as our guest of honour. He has been a friend to the Anchor Boy Section for many years. He is a well known children’s author and storyteller and has also founded the S.L.A.T.E. charity for which we have been fund raising. Our money goes towards supporting a school for blind children in Russia. The boys were rewarded with a superb "wee tom" story, the hero of Michael's books.
At the end of the evening all the boys were presented with an attendance prize. After the prizes, Ruairidh Smith and Jacob Reynolds were promoted to the Junior Section. We hope that they will continue to enjoy their journey through the Boys' Brigade - lots of new challenges and adventures await them.
Many thanks go to my fellow officer Morag Miller and to Lois Craig. Lois has helped us throughout the year and has been a great asset. I am also grateful for the help and support from our church secretary Jill Syme and church officer Ian Murray.
We are now looking forward to our Annual Outing with the older boys. We shall be going to Blair Drummond Safari Park, a popular venue for boys and officers alike.
