Anchor Boys March 2018
So far we have met twice in February. At the beginning if the month we were experiencing stormy weather which led into our first topic based on the strength and power of the wind. We looked at the story of the disciples being on a boat during a storm and how Jesus calmed the wind and the waves. We then talked about how Jesus can help us as a friend when we have difficult times. We finished the evening by making windmills.
Our second evening coincided with the opening day of the Winter Olympic Games. We made Olympic Flags and talked about how the white background and the colours of the rings incorporated a colour from every flag throughout the world. We talked about how the games are an opportunity for the whole world to come together in peace. We also chatted about teams and how Jesus had a team of twelve disciples and that his followers today are part of a large team, all with an important part to play.
The boys are busy collecting points for their achievement awards and their progress can be seen on the chart in the Small Hall.
March is our last full month of weekly activities. We shall finish the session on Friday March 23rd with our Parents' Evening. This starts at 6.30 pm and all family members and friends of the boys are warmly welcomed to attend. It is a chance to see some of the boys' favourite activities. We shall also be presenting the boys with prizes and promoting the older ones to the Junior Section.
We also look forward to having our friend Michael Kerins with us. Michael is an award winning story teller and author of children's books. He is also the founder of the S.L.A.T.E charity which we support.
In the meantime the boys have a Lego Morning to look forward to. This is organised by the Glasgow Battalion and is always a popular morning.
