Anchor Boys April 2017
We have had a busy few weeks in the run up to the end of this year's Anchor Boy Session. We are currently awaiting the results of a colouring competition organised by the Glasgow Battalion.
We had our Parents' Evening /Display last Friday and the boys proudly wore their latest award badges. We were delighted to have Michael Kerins, the founder of the S.L.A.T.E. charity with us as our guest of honour.
Our special evening was on March 17th and this gave us our theme for the night, namely Fun and Games on St. Patrick' s Day.
During the evening we shared some of our favourite games with an Irish twist including Pass the Shamrock.
We also presented Michael with our fund raising money which came to £110.
We regularly get letters from Russia thanking us and explaining how the money is used. Michael also thanked the boys and rewarded them with a story involving a little hero called weetom.
Towards the end of the evening we promoted five boys to the Junior Section.
They are Matthew Gillespie, Brodie Happell, Morgan McLellan, DJ Tuach and William Greenhill. We wish them well as they journey through the Boys' Brigade. Grateful thanks as ever go to my fellow officer Morag Millar and to the senior boys and officers from the Company Section who have helped us throughout the year. Thanks also to our Church Officer Ian Murray and Church Secretary Jill Syme for their valuable help. We were also grateful that Kenneth Munro was able to play the piano for us and that Brenda Stewart was able to help with the catering for our special evening.
The next day the boys had a great time at a Lego Morning and we still have a craft evening and an outing to look forward to.
